Thanks for sharing Sara- this is a excellent list with so many great examples- but I think they are missing one- #117- Join spread the word and get involved today.
:)

Take the pledge is a great site as well- http://www.designcanchange.org/#act/pledge

What a great list of things, love it! of course some of the things are a bit greenwashy- and have there cons etc... but a great reference list!

Thanks again.

We should consider adding some of this to our spread the word book- as reference.

Thanks for your comment Michelle.

Found something really interesting at greenlivingonline.com regarding junk mail, there is a campaign that has been developed ( http://reddotcampaign.ca/ ) to inform about the effects and inefficiencies of junk mail and how individuals can do to stop receiving junk mail.

"The Red Dot Campaign is a privately funded social marketing venture. Paper is precious. Vast amounts of trees, electricity, water and fossil fuels are used in the production and distribution of paper-based advertising. And yet the industry standard is a 2% response rate! That means 98% of these resources are wasted! We say its time advertisers join the 21st century and adopt data-driven print technologies, electronic communications and social marketing. The Red Dot Community will help inspire this change."

For Designers I think is important to be aware and to take the opportunity to recommend to our clients that may be using or thinking of using this method of advertising to consider better alternatives.

By the way I decided to try it and posted a label on my mailbox, its been two weeks now and not a single piece of junk mail. It was that simple.
