Interesting article I came across: Kiva is the world's first person-to-person micro-lending website, empowering individuals to lend directly to unique entrepreneurs in the developing world.
I met a woman in Guatemala who worked for Kiva and she said they're facing a serious proble. People who gave microloans and had them paid back are not reinvesting. As a result, Kiva has a huge amount of money sitting idle and not being redirected to other needy programs. Legally, Kiva is not able to reinvest the money without the permission of the lenders and they aren't responding. Interesting problem... too much money?
That's really interesting about Kiva's money problem, Amy. I wonder what actions (if any) they're taking to try to solve this lender disengagement issue.
